Techno Classica Essen 2016

Here's a few pics from my trip, a bit random but there you have it! Huge place, don't mention the parking, but the show is unbelievable and well worth at least a day 2 if you really want to get around it.

My favourite was the Saoutchik Mercedes, amazing thing.

Apart from that there's pictures of the new Fiat 124 Abarth Spider, new Alfa Giulia Quadrofoglio, Mercedes 190E Evolution II, 300 SL, New SL, New S Class cabrio, various Bracq era Mercedes, Aston Vantage prototype, McLaren M6GT, Mercedes 600, lots of 6.3 engine pics, a Vincent, a very green Porsche and a 924 prototype.

4th time out yesterday: incredible show as ever, feet now ruined.

No stand-out favourites this year, as there were so many I could choose. Thoroughly sick of 911s though!

I'm driving up there tomorrow. What were the issues with the parking? the park and ride system worked fine last time I went.

Park and ride (Car park 10) works ok if you know to go there first it was our first visit, unfortunately there is nothing saying not to go to the other car parks. It took us hours trying to find a park (1-9) or should I say just turning around in the end to get to the park and ride. We weren't the only ones, hundreds doing the same thing. They need a big sign or something saying to go to car park x as x y z are full etc. I'm sure if you've been plenty of times you would just go straight to the P&R. Live and learn.

Ah yeah, I know what you mean. I ended up going to 10 quite quickly after finding my first attempt full. Could definitely have done with better signage. A good day out though, with some very nice cars on show!

Day out...? I usually go for three days and even then I'm sure there are areas I've missed. Admittedly, I'm a bit slower getting around these days but even so, I'd consider even two days is pushing it.

Haha, I'm not sure my legs could have stood another day of it. Can't stay too long as I might end up playing spot the difference between all the Porsches

I've always done it in one day but legs ruined by the end of it.

BTW when I first went,found a parking place in a residential street and so used it again the 2 times I returned.

Know what you mean about the Porsches. Crazy number of them and even more crazy pricing, crazy pricing at the show full stop. I spoke to a guy later on who told me the cars are marked up about 2-2.5 times generally for the show.. Nutty. Must be a huge cost to exhibit I imagine. Great show though and really good for picking up leads for companies who specialise in various bits which you'd never find out about in the UK. I enquired about a steering wheel for example, the seller wanted 3,000 euro for it, no I'm not kidding. I know I can find the same wheel on Ebay for £300.............

Beats me how you can get round 20 or so halls on three floors plus the outside areas in a single day. Even in my fitter years I took two - unless you're one of the 'scooter boys'.

There's a show tax, but that much? Or is that just the Porsches?

As for getting around the show in a day: in early out late, and stop only for the currywurst mit pommes.

Thanks for sharing the photos, I normally get to the show but couldn't make it this year.

I've done it over 1-2 days and I always think/know i've missed a bit of it!

And the show tax is on everything, makes me think i'd be worth a fortune if I sold my cars there

Oddly enough, the last thing I bought at Techno Classica was a book, from an UK trader, cheaper than I'd seen it for back in the UK. Other than food and drink, I can't remember anything else I've bought there in over 20 visits that cost more than a few Euro; it's very much a looking and photographing (and drooling) event for me.
