Drive It Day 2016

I try to make a point of NOT driving my cars on "Drive It Day". Every day's a drive it day to me and I don't need some Hallmark day to remind me to use my car.

I use mine frequently, blasted up to Lightwater Valley recently and am off to Alton Towers the day before in it, but fancy seeing what people do for the day.

I don't think Hallmark sell cards for Drive it Day grumps.
It's a nice way for classic owners to meet up at a pub or something with the beginning of the spring days.

I made last Sunday my drive-it day in case next Sunday is raining.

Well I for one am happy to make an effort to drive my car on Drive it Day. Why would you not? Its not to remind you to drive it my friend, its for others including the lawmakers in Whitehall and Brussels to remember that we exist. Anyway....grrh

The official Scotland meet and run is £118 or so and runs around the roads in my area (bar a timed section on the closed military road in the rest and be thankful). However, the weather is looking pants and my mother in law is having a family birthday lunch. Suspect I'll be taking the MG on the duller dual carriageways between here and Gourock.

Like some others, the MG is a daily driver throughout the summer and is taxed for nice (dry and non salty ) days in winter.

We have a Group going to the 8th scramble at Bicester Heritage and meeting up with other groups and Clubs for the day should be a nice day out with the Tuscan

That pretty much defeats the purpose of Drive It Day. What sort of numpty/chancer decides to charge that amount for something that isn't even meant to be an organised event ?

Agree - and I don't think there is anything "official" about it. Just somebody using the day to rake in some cash.

Contemplating either one of my regular visits to Brooklands, or venture further to go to Bicester.
I seem to remember seeing some food reports from previous Bicester scrambles, would people recommend it, even if it is an hour and half drive away?

Indeed the bacon butty was very good but the queues for coffee were rather long.

We drove from Chesterfield to Brooklands last year and were disappointed at how few cars turned up during the day though the miserable weather probably didn't help. This year we don't have a car on the road but the Bicester Scramble would have been our likely destination.

Up in the North West, my local TR Register group are having a drive to Llangollen and the Horseshoe Pass.

It's always a well attended day and heralds the beginning of a new season.
