I know of a Peugeot 309GTi that has been stored from new for 25 years, never been used and has 126 miles on the clock.
Why? dont ask, that's all the info I have.
What would you guys surgest to do with it? Naturally new battery, oils, fluids and fuel, cranking by hand with oil in the bore, all the usual stuff. But, what about the cambelt and tyres? they are 25 years old and never been used.Would various oil seals be dried, useless and leak oil?

Then the nitty gritty, put a value on this car.

Curiosity value, £9k, maybe 12 retail. But the way Youngtijmrs are performing at the moment, I'd not be surprisd if it hit 20 at aucton.

I would relace ALL the consumables. Belts, rubber, filters, plugs and probably bushes and exhaust hangers too. Renew all the fliuds, with full flushes beforehand. Beyond that, it depends upon how well it's been stored.

I would save EVERYTHING you take off it, imcluding the old cracked tyres, belts etc etc....if you can buy it at half sensible money, get it bought, put it in the right auction and it should fly

Do you want to use and drive it or are you just looking to "move it on" at a profit??

If the latter then leave it exactly as it is with all the dust, dirt etc as untouched "barn finds" seem to achieve silly money at auction.

I've just had a 6000 mile 924 recommisioned. Big service, all belts, new tyres, new fuel pump and read drums off and cleaned up as they were sticking. Oh and new ignition leads as a mouse had taken a fancy to them rolleyes

However, what's the chance that the 309 will get used? I bought new wheels as the next owner may want to park the 924 up in a collection on it's factory rubber, so I'd say account for that as well. It would be cool to see some photos of the 309 biggrin

Depends upon where it has been stored, if it's in a shipping container then good luck…

However, ultra low mileage stuff like that does tend to make the news, regardless of the make of vehicle. Apart from the common sense recommissioning (might be worth even keeping the old items in a box and giving them as part of the sale).

The classic car bubble is still seeming to be intact, although perhaps time is of the essence, it should fetch some good money as a left field classic made in smaller numbers than the 205's.

I had one of these for while. Not as pretty as a 205 but just as much fun. It was my first experience of driving a car that felt like it was on rails. Had to get rid of it once the OH was expecting our 2nd child as the ride was too hard for a pregnant passenger.

Therefore I'd keep it for a while before selling.

309GTi isn't quite as scene as a 205, but still hardly unloved.

DEFINITELY go over it VERY carefully - full service, belts, tyres, anything vaguely consumable - and expect a whole raft of teething problems putting it into use.

But why would you? It'd lose what makes it unique the first time it goes further than just round the block. Continue to preserve it, and wait for 309 values to rise.

Or buy one that's sensibly priced and have fun in it.

With this, surly as soon as you re-commission it and start to use it, it's value will plummet.

This will be a unique 'curiosity' car, and unique only because of it's originality and low mileage. Don't do anything with it. Leave the tyres, hoses, electrics all as they are, don't even drain the washer-bottle or wash it.

If you want a decent GTi, there are loads on the market but trying to get this one usable will cost a fortune whilst also wiping off all it's value.

I agree, why drive it - there are plenty out there you can drive. And the value falls off a cliff.

Buy it and auction it ... it doesn't even 'have' to run - although I don't know how that would affect the value ...
