French Classic Hill Climb events...

Spurred on by watching some of these on youtube https://youtu.be/g2hmG6enMrc I fancy spectating at an event or two next year - anyone know anything about them?

FWIW we went to St.Gueuno this year. It's part of national hill climb championship but still had quite an eclectic mix of cars including historics and large English / Irish contingent. This event and La Pommeraye normally book end the Whitsun half term so you can get 2 events in, in a week. As they're based on the border of Normandy & Brittany they're also reasonably accessible.

Like UK hill climbs, it's a very welcoming atmosphere with big crowds but I guess the biggest difference is probably the length of course and thus top speeds. We were there for 3 days which coincided with a festival in the town which really added to our overall enjoyment of the weekend

How do they get away with limited safety gear and no marshals. Looks fun though.

I'll admit I wondered too. Bare arms, passengers etc. Would have got away with bare arms in the UK when I started in 86, but perhaps the next year the RAC cracked down on that. Not sure of the date for fireproof suits in the UK, but 89/90 seems about right.
