Fast & Loud - Lotus Cortina

Saw an episode of Fadst & Loud, some dreadful Sky channel thing where they follow a garage in Dallas which seems to be staffed by ZZ Top or similar. Anyway....
The owner gets a call to go to a private collection, collector is getting old and wants to offload some of his stuff. He ends up paying $80K for a pretty ropey old Amphicar that needed a ton of work, and an genuine one owner from new Mk1 Lotus Cortina, in showroom condition, absolutely original, still with the 1966 air in the tyres I'm guessing, with 18K miles on the clock.
Obviously it was LHD. Seen them fetch £55K recently in the UK. But nothing like this one. This hasn't been restored or anything, just as new.
Not sure what the US market is like for these, or if he would ship it here to sell. Seemed like a reasonable deal he'd struck.

A few Europeans do buy cars from him, but after he's washed them, they always seem far too expensive.

That's not true. Gas Monkey Garage existed before Fast and Loud TV series was even thought about. Their first Hot Rod was built 10 or so years ago, so calling them a made for reality TV Hot Rod shop isn't really being far to them. I've watched the show when in the USA, and it's not the worst of these type shows by any means.....but, I wouldn't give them money to build a car
Says here it sold for $65,000 & was then advertised again for $115,000

How meny of you remember this a phew years ago.A CAR used in the Great Train Robbery has been sold by an Essex dealer.
A Lotus Cortina owned by heist mastermind, Bruce Reynolds, and used to reconnoitre the robbery scene, has been sold for about £100,000 to an unnamed buyer.
The souped-up 1963 Ford, which would have cost about £1,100 new, was sold by J D Classics, based on the Wycke Hill Business Park, Maldon. The car was advertised as “Lotus Mk1 Cortina. Bruce Reynolds’s Great Train Robbery car. BMK 723A. 3,000 miles from new. Impounded by the Metropolitan Police until 1980. Full history. Unique”.

I like this show - the guy takes the pee out of himself - I like the style of the show - it's entertainment. Aaron Kaufmann has a beard - and ... ?It's Wheeler Dealers who have sold out - living in the US - everything now scripted in $$$$$ - lost the connection with the UK really. 'Oldyer'andart' (for the money)
