restoration insurance
Discussion
My car will still be being restored when the time comes to renew the insurance. It is possible to get some kind of restoration insurance that covers it while it is the restorers being sorted and then restart the full car insurance once it is back on the road? ive done a bit of googliing but didnt turn up anything. If its possible any suggestions of provdiders would be great
I have laid up cover on my car which I am (slowly) restoring. It is also covered when on a trailer.
I'm with ManningUK, but believe the likes of Lancaster, Hagerty and others offer similar cover.
Worth speaking to your current insurer as in the past I've changed a 'normal' classic policy to laid up cover.
Good luck
Matt

For the 6 months my summer car was off the road it was insured on a laid up cover for the one year I used laid up cover as the car wasn't going to be used on the road at all.
The difference in price between the limited mileage policy and the laid up cover was so little that for the rest of the time I just paid the limited mileage policy for all 12 months.
The reason I used the laid up cover in the first place was the car was undergoing a light restoration (over winter) & I had already cancelled the normal cover but didn't want it sat in the garage (where it was normally kept anyway) without any insurance cover at all.
