Traction Avant? Anybody got one?

Always found these gorgeous to look at and came close to buying one in the early '90s, and am finding myself drawn to them again.

But what are they like to live with?

As I'm getting older I can imagine driving one of these and to hell with speed and performance.

Prices haven't gone beserk on them either.

Sorry have no personal experience but family I often see at steam rallies have been towing thier classic caravan to the shows with one of these for years and years. Never heard him moan or complain about any aspect of the car, he loves it.

A mate of mine has one. He's found it just a bit too old and slow to do much more than per to the nearest pub/show within 50 miles, so he's bought a Jag mk2 as a more practical alternative classic. Though now that's for sale as it drinks fuel!

You might find the six-cylinder 15CV one goes a bit better than the four, but they all do have the inevitable FWD terminal understeer. They also look better on the right size wheels!

This was my first car that I owned. The big ends went, and I had to have them remetalled. This didnt last as the crank should have been reground. I didnt have the knowledge, skills or facilities to keep it back then. Later had a DS23 Pallas, a whole different story!

Also loved these since forever, and decided to buy one last year. Two test drives were enough to tell me that, as lovely as they looked, they are not a realistic owning/driving proposition for me. Just too unusual/compromised for today's traffic.

Go to the local Traction club meet (there's a very big and well-organised club) and maybe get a few ride-alongs or ask for a test drive?

That's kind of what I imagined really.

That's what put me off before and why I bought a P1800 instead.
