What I did on the classics today.

Took the P6 to Tesco in the snow, no drama. Checked oil and coolant, checked belts too, PAS belt needs adjusting.
cleaned up the headlight earths on the Morris, got the headlights and dip beams working, wired up the indicators, pumped up the tyres, charged battery, jacked up and lowered it off blocks, test drive tomoz.

Reminisced about days gone by when driving was a pleasure, cars were badly made/badly engineered/badly assembled but had REAL character. Part of the fun was putting right the stupid things that the manufacturer thought was an acceptable way to engineer something. And about a third of the vehicles that are on the roads today.

Checked tyre pressures, removed the coverings to check the bloody mice haven't got in, checked the mousetraps underneath (sorry PETA) and checked under the car for any leaks. Looked under the bonnet and had a general check over.
Sat looking longingly at the sky hoping spring might arrive early. Not being helped by Restoration Garage being on TV when the restore the Alfa.

Fitted a pair of stainless steel trims to the upper door frames on the Jap spec Mini 1275, fitted a set of interior door cappings and removed the '70s Rokee wooden dash so I can refinish it. MOT is next.
Charged up the battery in the '68 Cooper S and cleaned the purple fake fur floor mats!
Edit : also had a text from a mate with a '78 Rover SD1... ''managed to fit the new b*st*rd steering rack in The Steedster. I hate cars''.

Lotus.
Made more wiring loom, fitted relays and fuse box, wired up clean feed from battery. Connected starter cable, tachometer feed. Before lunch.

Rebuilt my accelerator linkage and re-set the choke mechanism on the Weber I've got fitted to my Amazon.
Damn thing has been sticking recently and I wasn't happy… sorted now though.
Was a cold and drizzly day and I was working outside - would've been nice to have stayed in the warm but if a job needs doing, then it'll get done… and damn the weather!
