Anybody remember Max Wallace Cars at Eastleigh? A scruffy selection of mostly Triumphs he traded from an old house at the back of the airport?
I traded in an Austin Sprite for a Mk3 Spitfire in about 1994, a no money swap that got me out of a hole as the Sprite was very rotten. The Spitfire was a mess, but chassis was good and had overdrive. He had a TR4 there that day, I needed an extra £1000 to have it, I was at uniiversity and working in Tesco, I just didn't have the money.

Yes I do. I'm pretty sure it was them that helped me out on the M27. I was moving to Portsmouth University for my first year in 1992. I had my worldly possessions in my Herald 13/60 convertible when it broke down (don't remember why) on the M27. I somehow walked to a phone box and called them using the TSSC self help scheme. They came to get me but when we went to get my Herald it had been towed. They guessed which pound it was in and lo and behold there it was! No one was around so I jumped in and it started and I drove off! They were really helpful nice folks.
Off topic, but I took this photo at Meonstoke in about 1966 I think. Grass track racing around the field, but we had many days of Bike racing too with the sound of JAP engines and the smell of Castrol R. We traced the old owner of the garage and gave him a copy. Apparently Land Rover specialists these days.
