How do I get a valuation on a XR2?

I am in the process of selling my elderly father's XR2. It is circa 1987 and I think it is a MKII - white with red trim line and the square headlights.

It is in great shape and has around 67k on the clock and has always been well maintained (he is ex Lotus) and was used up until August last year. Details are vague because I don't live anywhere near him. I need to get the best price as any funds will go towards his care but don't know where to start as far as knowing value is concerned. It's located in Somerset and the engine is good and clean.

Can anyone tell me where to go to get a decent valuation?

I have also been advised to get it fully valeted and bought up to scratch - any advice on this appreciated?

I am up there next week and will get it started and take it for a trip to ensure it still runs well and get some images.

All advice and suggestions appreciated. My Dad loves this car and I want it to go to someone that will really appreciate it.

We sold one through work(auction) a couple of months ago. 1989 so one of the last ones. Black, lovely condition with about 90k on the clock. That made £6500. I thought it would make a little more to be honest.

If it's really genuine take it to Mores Motor Company at Lympsham nr Weston S Mare . They specialize in classic Fords .

Yes, a few around 5-6k but they haven't exactly flown off the shelf.

Best to find similar cars on ebay (auction not buy it now), put them on your watch list and see what they actually go for. There is currently a 43k mile 1987 XR2 that hasn't made £1300 yet with 3 days to go.
