Mystery car seen in Utrecht..........

My daughter spotted this in Utrecht at the weekend. It's currently got me baffled but I'm sure the collective wisdom of the PH Forum will soon solve the mystery!

Wasn't it just Sunbeam Alpine (1953/55) ?

Good call & a very quick answer - thanks all.

After a bit more Googling, it looks as though it's a Sunbeam Alpine, either a Mk11A or a Mk111, dating from 1953-55. I'm not sure exactly what the bodywork differences are between the two variants: is it possible to identify which it is from the photo?

Indeed. There is/was a chap in the Netherlands with a massive collection of Alpines, mostly ex US LHD models in various states of repair. He started selling them off a couple of years ago, not sure if he has any left now...

I think that the picture above was taken on Bildstraat, near to the university campus?

The Alpine wasn't a particularly fast car, but it was pretty tough and reliable, and (to my eyes) looks epically beautiful. It amazes me that you can pick up one of these in good condition, eligible for historic racing, for less money than a dog-rough 4 cylinder LHD Healey.
