Daft things classic dealers put in adverts
Discussion
Casually looking at classics for sale, I noticed this apparently restored Stag with top money being asked. I've seen other Stags being offered for similar money, but what really caught my attention was that the seller seemed to think the number plate was something special.

"Number Plate Thought To Be Worth In The Region of £10,000 (Number Plate Included In The Sale) (Rolls Royce Reunion or Reunion) (The Number Plate Is A Bonus)."
Really??
It's just a standard number plate FFS.

- First photo is of an immaculate car (This is what it could look like when you've spent 000s restoring it) and all the others are of a rusty pile of crap.
- Description has 1 line about the car for sale and a long article pasted from a website about the history of the Marque "In 1956 Colin Chapman made the first Lotus in his garden shed, this was sold to finance building the second and he gradually built up the company, winning the Monaco grand prix in 1965 blah blah blah. FFS you're selling a shagged out Eclat which has nothing at all to do with F1 cars!

I think it's an entirely good thing that adverts often tell us quite a lot about the character of the seller.
Quite correct, alarm bells ring regarding the whole car and the price he wants also like in a lot of these adverts we never see under the bonnet.Another thing which puts me off any car for sale is overspray, don't get me wrong most classic cars have been resprayed but to be too bone idle to mask up properly and too lazy to remove any overspray sets my alarm bell ringing.

I've emailed the seller saying if he wants to keep the plate i'll happily purchase the car for £11,999 http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C873946
