90's Mercs on the rise?

Only few months ago there were always few half-decent W201s, W124s and so on for sale around £1k in my area, today everything not rotten through fetches twice that amount.

Holiday supply-demand changes or are their values slowly creeping up?

I would have thought so. 20 year old+ in some cases, an old merc in good nick will always be desirable to some extent however there will be a relatively low ceiling for quite a few more years. Some of the 90's cars still fit into the "proper merc" category.

Agree with this 100%. Such a pretty car. My old man is in the process of minting his 230. Good one's are getting up all ready. I've seen a few north of £8k in recent months in the official Merc mag. Not a bad steer down the lanes although the slush box is a little reluctant!

I have always liked the 190. I obsessed about getting one when "The Wrong Mans" series was on and one of the characters drove a black one.

Definitely. Has been the case for last year or so.

I still maintain the A124 (W124) Cab will increase; there weren't a lot made, classy and understated looks, rare 4 seat cab M-B model (after the w111) and still part of Mercedes 'solid range'. Ok, may not achieve £300k currently asking for a 3.5 280SE cab but worth a punt surely - the replacement CLK was too flaky IMO.

Not sure about the early SLK..could be wrong though...as above!

Also rare models - E500, AMG hammer, SL60/72 etc you'll see you're money back and then some easy..

When I bought mine five years ago this idea was scotched by a classic restorer. The fact its a 99 with 33k on the clock and is in Designo Orange with matching leather sets it out from the croud. Im told only six in the country in this colour and I believe the only one with the matching interior.

I hope not! My motor trader mate had an auto. one of those years ago - it's the only car he'd ever had that was so slow it was dangerous trying to get onto a roundabout!

It all comes down to supply and demand, with a bit of fashion thrown in. My 190e manual (black, MBtex grey interior) was bought locally after a brief search to find the right spec. That was back in 2005! It's been generally reliable and fairly easy to maintain, apart from a mammoth rear suspension rebuild three years ago now. Back when I bought the car nobody much noticed, but I've now had a good many comments in car parks and a few would be buyers, just over the last couple of years. Even a chap in the spares department in the nearest MB dealership said to keep the car as it was "a proper Mercedes".

Nobody has mentioned R129`s.
This SL320 cost me £12K TEN years ago,a bargain or what. They are a superb car,have all the modern safety stuff and are not out of place at a classic car show.
