When I took my BMW E30 M3 off the road some ten odd years ago, values were still low and a rusting project car would have been a few grand. Now the restoration is underway and just the bare shell is in the garage and values have rocketed and the once almost plentiful availability of cars for breaking/shells with ID has all but gone, it's probably long overdue being insured again, particularly as I hope the shell with be off to the body shop in the not to distant future.
As the car hasn't been insured in that and is a total bare shell with everything else in boxes of component parts, is there any advice on insuring the project anyone can offer ? It was always on a regular policy and I've never had classic insurance, so with it being away for some time, I'd like to make sure if the worst happens, it is at least covered.
I'm not sure what the shell is worth, simply because they rarely come up for sale, but the cheapest complete M3s are around £30K, so would imagine if a bare shell did come up for sale with ID and was legit, 10K upwards.
Thanks

I have my project (currently a bare shell and a pile of parts) insured with Hegarty insurance. They cover it on the same policy as my other classic.
Give them a ring and speak to Tim Sawyer, I'm sure he would sort you out.
