Years ago my kids had a Brum video when they were tots. A car kept appearing in a scrapyard episode that looked familiar but I could never identify. As someone proud of their useless car spotting skills this failure has tragically haunted me ever since.

Wotisit? Something dead obvious robbed of its chromey bits or something rarer?

Could it be an Austin Maxi? Assuming you mean the silvery one.

On reflection I am guessing you meant the front only in view in the foreground!! Really odd that it was the Maxi that struck me- I will go and have a strong coffee.

Sorry no, the C or G reg sporty thing in the foreground. I'm hoping it isn't so obvious I need to don a dunce's cap.

That is an Ashley front end conversion for an MGMidget/Sprite. They are still available.......

I reckon it could be an Ashley Spitfire conversion. C or G registration would fit and Google images show some versions had very similar side light positioning and grille dimensions.

Ashleys don't have the little bumperettes at the side though do they? The Reliant Sabre has them but the grill on that is way different.

Yeah, my initial thought was one of the 1-piece bonnets for a Spitfire.

I wonder if that "bumperette" that was confusing me is just something in the foreground. ID solved, thanks all.
