Who commuted in their classic today?

Made the trip to work in my dad's Daimler 250 V8 this morning. Aside from misting up windows, easy peasy. Always drive it with a big smile on my face, but there's something about using something special for a humdrum task that makes me smile more - and judging by the smiles and approving nods from other commuters in the traffic, it makes other people smile too!

Yep, today and usually at least once week - can sometimes feel frustrating, but today was warm and sunny, so windows down and sunroof open 
Have a regular parking spot that I try to get, next to either a classic WRX or AMG45 - have never met the other drivers but we always leave each other space around our respective cars.

My first experience of 100mph was in a new (at the time!) RS Turbo on the M3 with my dad driving. His mother (my nan) was in the front seat, noticed the speed he was doing and gave him a proper telling off..

My uncle had a pale metallic blue Daimler 250 V8 back in the early 70s - really classy car!
He replaced it with a P6B Rover 3500 in Cameron Green, which was also pretty special. (And once my cousin got hold of it probably influenced my purchase of a 3500S - albeit in Mexico Brown)!
Sadly I don't have a classic yet based on the 20 years definition - my older car is only 15!
I'll be back in 5 years.

I just returned to London from working a weekend in Manchester having travelled in my 1985 Ford Capri. 440 mile round trip.
I work in Broadcasting and am freelance so HAVE to turn up on time, I trust the old thing quite well for this purpose. It's a 2.0 laser/5 speed with a 2.1 Vulcan engine and EFi, so has no issues maintaining a rapid rate of leptoa and gives me mid 30s to the gallon.
It has even done the whole return trip on one tank of fuel before.
Had it 25 years and it's never left me stranded.
I do the Manchester run once or twice a month and try to use the Capri for this a few times a year in good weather, it's directly for work so I suppose it's a commute.
It gets a few looks too which is nice.

I retired a few years ago so don't commute any more. I had a Rover P4 110 for years and used it daily, followed by a Mercedes 190e which is now 27 years old. In my early days teaching I rode a Triumph Daytona (T100R). I built a 3 wheeler too - no roof, a sort of Morgan pastiche and commuted in that for a couple of years. I'm lucky enough to have a Jaguar XK120 roadster and used that regularly for school. With a minimalist approach to silencing it delighted some staff and kids, but a few staff looked upon it with ill concealed disdain as a vulgar anachronism. I also ran a LHD 2cv Citroen for years before the chassis began to show serious rust problems.
