I have a mate who's owned his GTi since it was a year old. He nearly sold it recently, but had decided to get it restored instead as it's getting a bit tatty. He lives in Exeter, so can anyone recommend someone he can take it to for the restoration work? He wants to keep it standard rather than having it enhanced.

There's a guy on the Corrado forum who took his car to the Resto Shack near Exeter. They do all sorts of stuff and seem pretty good although I have no personal experience of them yet.

I follow Resto Shack on Facebook - Their work is absolutely fantastic... Not sure how they are in terms of cost, and they seem to specialise in VW stuff, but are also currently doing work on an RS2000, so definitely are limited to VW.. No first hand experience, but the quality of their work looks to be outstanding.
