Mercedes R107 hard top installation

Evening all,

Wife bought an R107 at the start of the year. Came with the hard top installed, which was fairly straight forward to take off but I will be damned if I can work out how to get it back on!!

It's kind of helped but it doesn't show a few things. My questions: -

1. Is the order I should be doing things in lever, front and then sides?
2. What position should the leaver be in before the roof gets put on?
3. With the side screws do they need to be in a certain position before the roof goes on as I can't get them to move at all, this is the main problem.
4. The front is definitely on and I think the back is also. Should the back sit totally flush or is there space for finger tips underneath?

Thanks for the help. It would be embarrassing if I have to take it to a garage to get them to do it!

I do mine front, sides rear, lever should be in mid position (release the soft top cover, let the lever return, pop the cover back closed if that makes sense. The side ones on mine are a bit of an arse, make sure they're properly aligned and they take a full half turn to lock them down. Then clamp with the lever. Yes, there's a wee gap round the hardtop(it's sitting on a seal a bit inside the outer edge, if it touched it'd mark the paint)
Before doing any of that though, make DAMN sure the lever cable clip under the soft top cover is properly in place. If it comes off it wont allow the safety catch to release, you need to get under the soft top cover to put it back on, but you need to get the hardtop off to get to the bit that's stopping you getting the hardtop off if you get my drift. You will find making new swearwords becomes very inventive and there's a good chance(I did) that you will scratch the paint prodding around to release the catch. It's not uncommon either.

Don't forget to set the small lever (centre lock)

Blimey, I never realised it was such a minefield on the 107. Makes me glad I bought a 129 instead.

Thanks for the pointers guys. I am going to send the wife to the garage with it tomorrow (let her pretend it is her who can't manage it!)

Can somebody who has one post a picture of the rear locking bolts. Mine has been attached by the garage but I think it looks pretty high.
