why is my topic closed??

i was going to start putting up nostalgic covers of interest.

with all the racism and bigotry and swearing on this site, the moderators only get involved in closing down threads that are harmless?

There are some really cool cars covered in some of these mags... so much fun to remember and also read what was seen as a future classic in the 80s and what is actually now one....

Copyright issues, maybe? Did you have permission from the publishers to post past magazine covers?

Haymarket own Classic and Sports car magazine (rival to Classic Cars).
Haymarket own Pistonheads.

Possible link?

Because you had the answer to your question, and the thread was completely off topic for the forum.

Feel free to go ahead and post cover pictures if you like.

This area of pistonheads is ridiculous

Your reply to the topic 'Classic Car Magazines' has been removed for the following reason:

You don't appear to have got the message: we don't allow advertising items for sale on the forums. Consider this your last warning - if you continue to break the rules then your access to the forums will be restricted.

I wasn’t trying to sell anything! Not once let alone twice!! Where did I mention a price? Are you a dealer? Is there a conflict of interest here? I was trying to help someone out with a free magazine FFS. Why would I try and get banned for less than £1?

Go over to many of the other threads in the general gassing area that are full of swearing and racism and utter vulgarities that go unchallenged and moderate there!

Trying to be helpful to people hetsbthe threat of a ban? Must be a slow night on the TV eh?

How childish frown

Perhaps if you have made it clear that the mags were FOC, then perhaps your post would still be running. rolleyes

Oh I give up

Never tried to sell them here.

I was truly trying to help a guy out

I admit I asked where best to sell them yesterday and clearly I’d forgotten rule 12g in the 7yrs I’ve been on the site.

I understand the reasons for the rule

I don’t understand the rudeness from the moderators - it’s as if I’ve robbed fort nox

I’ve sold cars on here before so I know the business model

A gentle nudge on the forum rather than a pissy “not allowed to reply” email isnall that’s needed. I’m not a school boy who needs taking to the headmasters office for a quiet talking to

I am a moderator on forums and this behaviour is awful

I saw your original post and you asked where would be the best place to sell them? A reasonable enough question I would have thought.

You certainly did not advertise them for sale on the forums,( Which is against PH rules), but you could have advertised them in the classifieds in the same was as selling a tractor, car or motorbike.

I am sure most members understand that the (unpaid) PH mods generally do a good job, but in this case I thought they got it wrong.

It's used time and time again as a veiled advert. Especially with a description of the goods. In this case it was shown to be the case, eliciting requests for certain magazines and comments on the viability of selling them.

Exactly. Or simply said I've got some magazines to give away, anyone interested? Or indeed just posted some interesting pictures from them as promised.

How can it be a “veiled attempt” when I haven’t told anyone what I’ve got?

It’s not like the standard “I’ve got a car (insert spec) and was wondering how much it’s worth...” post

As said I manage my own car forum that I set up myself from scratch and moderate it and approve all new members and never have I had to send a stty email to someone.

I’ve done my research and seen them on eBay but didn’t know if there were other places so asked (again I see now I’ve revisited the rules after 7yrs of posting that that’s not allowed but I doubt many people know that) so I apologise.

I spent an hour reading the Ts&Cs and couldn’t find what was being referred to by “12g” in the initial email.

And as for giving me a final notice and threat of a ban for asking someone about a photocopied magazine!! Wow......!! So I can call someone fking prick and that’s ok but can’t ask a Q to help out an enthusiast?

Well if I do have it and the guy wants it I’ll list it in the classifieds for free and pay my fee and put myself out of pocket just to keep people happy frown

Thanks

Honestly - walk over to the thread on Donald Trump - wow..... there would be about 10bans an hour and people have stated they report posts and nothing happens - guess I was an easy target frown

Night
