Annual insurance Conundrum
Discussion
Can someone talk some sense into/to me
It's renewal time again and have just had the quote through for next years insurance. It's gone up again although in 5 years I've only used the included breakdown cover once, no other claims.
The policy is with one of the more "reputable" insurers and they are always impeccably polite whilst on the phone when relieving me of my money.
The breakdown recovery wasn't what I'd expected, collected by a dodgy, young bloke who'd never picked up a classic and dumped at a service station to await a far more reputable operator to take me the rest of the journey.
The one part of the policy that is lacking is there is no cover whilst on a track, even for a parade lap. This hasn't stopped me in the past but it sits at the back of the mind.
I just googled classic car insurance and ran my details through a comparison site and got a quote 30% cheaper, but from a company I've never heard of.
My question is this, are the specialists worth the extra money? Can anyone recommend a good insurer for a car approx £150000 (asset rich, cash poor)
All thoughts would be gratefully recieved
Thanks
Jon

Lancaster are worth a call for higher value classics.
I have used them for the past six years and I always get a very fair price for my two "oldies" with a sensible agreed value.
Like your Lotus, mine are ex-competition cars and Lancaster take this into account when setting values.
(Lovely picture of JMH!)
