My 20 year old SL320. Would it be considered inappropriate to fit rear (colour coded to the bumper) parking sensors, with maybe just an audible alarm in the cab ?

Some time ago I reversed my daily into a lamp post which was completely obscured by the C pillar.
Cost £150 to have the bumper repaired and sprayed. I could have spent that on sensors !
Id hate to do the same to the SL and scratch the bumper on something you just dont see whilst reversing.
Yet also Id like to keep the car as original as possible. First world problems hey !

Any opinions out there ?

Thanks

rather than butcher the bumper, maybe something like this. A tiny bit intrusive but not hugely and its removable.

Other 20+ year old Mercs had them, so I wouldn't have thought it was a problem.

Most W210 estates had them, so maybe look at them for inspiration.

I was wondering about doing the same thing with my new DB7 since the location of the back of the car is impossible to judge. Stigproducts' suggestion is worth looking into, though.
