Renault alpine, Matra Bagheree

Both on a trailer and both yellow in a campsite in Macon France. Being towed by a motorhome, chatting to the owner there are a couple of events over here that he is attending over the next week or so. Pics will follow later haven't uploaded them from camera yet

Interesting pair of motors.
I remember the boyfriend of friend of my ex's having a Mata Bagheera, really looked the part. I remember it having 3 abreast seating.

From a pedantic viewpoint the A110 is actually a Dinalpin - it is just 10 chassis numbers away from mine which I sold just recently.

I remember being a relatively youthful passenger in a Bahgeera a long time ago when the driver wanted to overtake a line of traffic - the joy is you and the middle passenger are aware of the impending doom some margin before the driver is

The Alpine event will be the Macon Rally, touriste rally to celebrate the A110s rally winning exploits in the 70s, been a few times myself, great event.

Oh wow, a Bagheera, not seen one for many decades and even then they were rusting.

Very tactile steering and a great ride/handling compromise.

Dreadful engine and drivetrain though and I suspect were suffering structural corrosion before the customer took delivery.

I was always under the impression they were plastic?

The outer body panels were polyester resin grp. I think they were one of the earlier production cars to use vacuum formed mouldings.

The monocoque was made from steel and poorly protected hence the rust issue.

They were replaced by the Murena with a galvanised monocoque and same type of high quality outer panels.

Really great cars in their day but too many compromises.
