Old vehicle rebuilt, now tax and MOT exempt

Hi team!

I am just finishing off the restoration of a '77 Midget, and being that age it is now tax and MOT exempt.

Before it was taking off the road it was not exempt.

So, How exactly do I get it back on the road, legally?
It is NOT registered as a historic vehicle, yet.

tax exempt doesn't mean it's not applied for. You still need to apply for the VED and it costs £0.

So I guess it's a case of insure it, tax it and go

As I understand it, to register it as Historic for the first time has to be done at the Post Office. Take the V5 logbook and they should fill it in and send it off. You'll receive one back stating 'Historic Vehicle'.
I presume they can tax it for you at £0 as well by filling in a V112 MOT exemption form instead of an MOT certificate.
