Spotted in Cirencester .. the reg must be worth many many times the value of the car. It was matt red and was travelling quickly .. must be using a special type of Fuel!

Quite a lot of very old cars have what you could consider "good" dateless plates. Back then they were just that, number plates and nobody really knew the value of those VRMs would one day reach. My classic originally had a "good" dateless plate, however the original owner transferred it to another vehicle when then abandoned the classic, many many years ago. The DVLA gave it a "new" dateless plate which is much more generic, I've been looking at acquiring a similar VRM to the original but it's a lot of money nowadays.

Hopefully, the plate's been marked as non-transferable.

It's not on an Austin 7, it's an A40.

Austin 7s were made from 1923 to about 1935 originally.

Name was then re-used for the Mini.

I'd forgotten I'd got this

It's not the only A40 with a desirable plate

(Both from FB spotted posts, not my own photos)

Why? I knew someone who had a Triumph 1300 with the registration Y28.
