This is what my grandpa was driving in Europe before WW2, and I was wondering if somebody could ID what it is.

Thanks in advance!

There's something about the grille that says Packard, and the size certainly looks 'merkin.

I was a kid, but I do remember him saying it had a V12 or V16 engine and it was so smooth and quiet he had to put his hand on the hood to be able to tell if it was running.

Could it be a Packard 12?

No, lights are totally wrong. The bigger Reinastella, p'raps? But they were rocking-horse.
