Found this "in car" video from 1987 driving around various parts of Wigan. Lots of retro classics to be seen. Spot how many Capri's and Escorts there are. The roads seem to be full of em, even the bloke driving is in a Capri I think. The estate at the start looked newly built, which I found surprising as I didn't know that particular estate had been built so long ago. Great video for anyone from the area to look at the amount of buildings and shops that have now gone (sadly).

WOW! Clean streets, light traffic, interesting cars, hardly any street furniture and no speed bumps.........

Bring back the eighties I say!

That was a great watch for me, thanks for posting it.

Having driven over most of those streets during the past couple of days it has been fun comparing the video against present day. It seems that most of the changes are to commercial buildings, the houses remain mostly the same. The part where they drive past Mesnes Park could have been filmed today and it would have been difficult to spot the differences.

Nothing much has changed I agree apart from businesses and commercial buildings, though there are some houses that have now gone (not forgetting the pubs that are closing left right and centre). I hate it though when they turn a public field, originally for use by anyone, into a sports ground for football only games, like the field on Little Lane in Goose Green. Where are they getting their money from when public services are desperate for funding?.

I didn't know there was a petrol station next to the car dealers on Miry Lane.

I wish there were more videos like this.
