Aston Martin info

I wonder if anyone can shed any light (or rather info) on an Aston Martin (a DB2 i believe) that was once owned by a gentleman named Clive Unsworth and his father (can't recall his first name) of Wigan, Lancashire. Clive was a well known local man who owned several classics (mostly during the 60s), one notable car was a short nosed Ecurie Ecosse D-Type. He also, I believe, owned an E-Type, a C-Type, a Lola T70, and in later life owned vintage cars such as a Pierce-Arrow and a Crossely.

My dad was a friend of his and recalled he once owned an Aston DB5 or 6, but his father once owned an earlier Aston which he said was a DB2 (red or maroon I think, but I could be wrong), but I've no idea what MK it was. The DB2 was sold onto a dealer in Cheshire in the 60s after a mechanical problem arose, with my dad and a couple of mates following behind the Aston. Can't seem to find any info of the Aston's I've mentioned owned by these gentelman. Anyone know?.

I knew of him, I think my uncle may have known him. Have a look at www.wiganworld.co.uk and search his name.

I'm quite familiar with the Wigan world website having posted on there before at some point regarding the cars the person in question owned - much regarding the famous D -Type he owned is/was fairly well known about. It's the other motors he owned (which I knew of only via my dad as he used to hang around with him) which seem to be rather obscure and less known about. Its worth a try asking on there but I don't think many will remember the Aston's that he (and his father) owned.

I could ask on the north west forum, but I'm talking a long time ago here.

Have you tried the AMOC or AMHT? Some of our members do have long memories!

I had considered trying the AMOC and the other you mentioned, but I can't imagine them disclosing info regarding the cars, where they are now (if indeed they still exist - probably do I would imagine given they are classic Astons) to me. And then you'll need to log in and all that to post stuff.

It's more a curiosity knowing about the cars in question than anything, as my dad once knew the gentlemen who owned them, and also because I've always wanted to know more about the cars (whether one was a DB5 or not), specific things. I used to ask my dad about the DB2 (though I'm not 100% sure it was a DB2), but apart from that it had an "old fashioned" look about it and an old style grill, that's all he could ever recall of it, despite having somewhat of a vivid memory of it riding in his works van, along with Clive in his own van, and his father in the Aston in front in a convoy heading through Cheshire somewhere, possibly en route to a race track. Then my dad recollecting how the propshaft (if I can recall it was) on the Aston came off and they had to push the car to a nearby garage, which I believe he sold it to in p/X for something else.
