Old Marcos photos on Ebay

Hi I bought these prints during the Christmas hiatus in a moment of boredom as they struck me as particularly nice artistically as much as anything. Puzzled about aluminium though. I thought these cars were fibreglass over plywood early on.

It may be a one off, there's no mention of an aluminium bodied factory built GT in the David Barber book on the company (the only useful Marcos book I've found so far, aside from the Brooklands road test reprint book).

Looks like the photos were taken in a private garage or workshop rather than the stone built factory in Bradford-on-Avon (an ex-watermill).

A one off aluminium body to make the fiberglass moulds from? Although it does appear to have glass fitted.

The buck was aluminium. It still exists and I believe driving.

That looks like the Adam's brothers design for the 1800, I'm sure I read somewhere that the original was made in aluminium. Williams & Pritchard made a few prototype bodies for Lotus and I think they had a hand in some of the early Marcos cars, maybe the photograph is in their workshop ?

Williams and Pritchard sounds feasible. Perhaps those are the two gentlemen themselves! I'll see if there are any workshop photos from the era online and compare. I love the pieces of equipment dotted about in the background. Ancient. And look at the pristine shiny thing that is emerging from the gloom. I'm getting carried away.
