Wolseley restoration needed!

So my Dad kept my mums old car for about 40 years in an old garage which he recently had to give up. Now he's moved it to my garage, he reckons he's gonna 'do it up' but I really can't see it. He has all the bits for it, like bumpers, lights etc.....
If anyone knows of anyone in the London area that can take the whole project on I would love to know as I can't see myself getting my garage back for some time

Unless Mr Onward Snr is suffering from some life threatening debilitating condition, Car SOS wouldn't be interested.

That garage is only big enough for storage!

I think the sidelight position says 15/50 (or 4/44).

Thanks to Google, not my encyclopaedic knowledge of Wolseleys. My dad's 15/60 is the only one I've ever been in, and that was a grave disappointment because it replaced the MkII Zodiac that he returned after a few weeks because it used too much petrol.

A full restoration on that, done professionally to a reasonable standard, is 30 grand plus. A decent paint job will be upwards of £5000. Glass out, bare metal, repair the rust (and there will be plenty). Retrimming, engine rebuild, brakes, tyres.

If it gets moved on it will end up on the banger track - a tricky one. I'd suggest getting the mechanics done first - get it running, new brake pipes, tyres etc so it's capable of an MOT (doesn't need one, but it does if you see what I mean) and regular use. Then fire it into a bodyshop.

Getting it into a tidy useable state is the way forward as a decent 15/50 is £6000 worth at most. They're a lovely old thing but there's not much demand.

Having gone through two restorations of a similar car (Riley One-Point-Five) I'd say a restoration could be done for less than the sums mentioned provided it's better than it looks in the photo - unlikely given its age - bodywork repairs soak up money like nothing else. The figure that is correct is the valuation, you'd finish up with a car worth in the region of £6,000.

You could save a few pounds here and there, even do an oily rag job on it to get it driveable but a full restoration is only going to empty your wallet, especially if someone else is going to do it. If I owned it and couldn't do the work myself I'd sell it as it is.

Its a bigger, but it would mean leaving the TR out in the cold
