I've recently inherited an MGF and a 924 from my dad, and am struggling to get the MG insured reasonably. It seems a shame to sell as it's sorted mechanically and there's the sentimental attachment as well. I'm 23 if that helps.

I can't seem to find a classic insurer who will cover it (registered Jan '98 so should qualify) and standard policies are super pricey as my no claims is in use on my actual car.

I've tried Adrian Flux, Lancaster, and Performance Direct so far and all have said they can't cover it at all. Are there any out there which are a bit more young driver friendly?

In contrast, the 924 was no problem to get cover for and came out at £250 a year.

Cheers

Try A Plan Insurance, they do specific policies and use Markerstudy as the underwriter. However, at the cars age of 21 years it might not (in their eyes) meet the criteria, I think it needs to be over 25 years old.

Also, they probably won't include "commuting" as part of the allowed uses. It didn't make any difference to my policy as I'm old and unwise, but I think it might have an impact, especially on a classic one.
