Next door neighbour's Anglia with our Riley, both were out and about today but the only classic we saw was a Moggy.

I went on the stilton cheese run. Probably around 250 classics there. Great turn out and many lovely lovely cars.

I didn't take many photos... but here are three of my favourites.

A Jowett Javelin Jupiter

This nice little Lancia Ardea (900cc V4)

And this absolutely stunning Jag xk (120?)

On the way home I followed a trio of TR6s for about 10miles through the country twisties. I don't think they were pinned, but they were certainly not hanging around and I had to work quite hard to keep up. Great fun. Think I clocked up about 160miles in total yesterday.

We were out transporting this between Bedfordshire and Yorkshire yesterday and saw a few others out and about. Very nice to see others!

What does "pinned" mean here? I've literally never heard that expression before, in this sort of context.

Or maybe its just me that's never heard it.

"Flat out" is an expression I've always used and heard used, but only the other day I stopped to think "how did that expression come about, where's it from?" Similar with "Cracking on".

Answer is no one really knows...

Pinned, as in speedo needle on the stop/'pin'

...my son uses the expression as well, 'making progress' may have been better in the case of a TR6!

Ahhhh... that makes sense. thumbup

I'm not sure it's possible to pin a TR6, the speedo goes to 140. But I have heard it claimed "on the continent".

Anyway, sorry for the thread drift paperbag

Never heard the 'Pinned' expression either - maybe it's a localised thing - 'Givin' it welly' is the equivelant/translation down in my neck o' the woodssmile
Sadly that rarely happens with most of todays drivers - hence the opposite expression in this area of 'mobile chicane' Todays drivers have 'Stationary skills' - spinning their tyres in local Asda carpark whilst parkedfrown

'Giving it beans', where the hell does that come from? I mean - 'beans'? Why not 'bananas'?
