Fiat Coupe in my garage

Well almost!, put down my deposit on a Fiat Coupe 20vt today. 79000 miles up, one owner from new from whom I have purchased the car. FSH with a nice folder of paperwork for the car, completely standRd as it left the factory in 1998, virtually unmarked inside and out. It’s the portofina blue car which I think is advertised on fleabay but I saw the ad’ in FCC website yesterday.
I want to have the cam and auxillery belts changed before I do anything else. Collect end of the month.

I've always advocated buying the low owners car.

The know all's advocate buying one with more than a few owners.

Thanks guys, yes that’s the one in your link. Very happy to have been able to purchase it, the owner told me afterwards that several others had expressed interest. 280 mile round trip in the heat of the day and no A/C in my daily hack, worth every second though.

Yes it is certainly a better car, although the scots green with cream leather was very nice indeed.

I certainly wouldn't use your local main dealer for the belt change, had terrible issues with them when I had an Alfa, and they were spectacularly useless when they sold me a new Peugeot!

Will you be getting a towbar fitted for the Eccles?

Yup, I had heard and read about Fiat main dealerships unable to correctly repair/service the Coupe. I’m getting quotes from ‘Power Italia’ in Basildon and ‘Fiat & Alfa specialist’ in Bury st Edmunds. I expect it’s going to be £400 or £500 for the work.
I have been advised to have all belts and tensioner + water pump, advise I will heed. Thanks for the heads up though regards garage.

Belts, tensioner, idler and waterpump is £490 inc.I understand from FCC that he still works on the Coupe but also now more heavily into the BMW. Waiting to see how that compares, but it seems very fair and reasonable just a trek to get there for me.

The kind owner gave me a lift from Autointegrale/Beenham last month. He mentioned he was going to sell it, I was tempted....
