Fire up the (SWB replica) Quattro !!
Discussion
After many years of having a SWB Quattro on the bucket list I have finally pulled the trigger.
Sold several cars at auction ... never bought one ... until now !!
Paid way too much .......
And I now have a new project
But to hep with my buyers remorse ... where am I going to find another one.
Basically I belive after conversations with Dialynx it is one of 28 they converted and this one was done in the 90's. Its belived to be one of their first ones. It will be off to see them in a few weeks when its up and running with MOT.
It clearly was an excellent conversion, even has electric porsche sports seats (fully working!), you cant even see the welds underneath, its fitted with a later S2 engine with unknown power as the paperwork / hsitory didnt come with the car.
It absolutley flies ... by modern standards and has the typical 80's / early 90's Turbo lag.
Nothing , Nothing , Nothing .... whllop of to the horizon we go !!
It has taken part in the Hero arctic challenge even in 2003 and I suspect several further road rallys since. Been on the road until 2017 and then in a barn from what I can work out.
Its running and driving now and we have serviced it, fuel pump, fuel filters, accumulator and belts, need a little welding and the front indicators fixing and we are good to go.
Some pics to get it started as found and now home and a bit cleaner
If anyone knows anything about the car that would be incredibly helpful its a Y reg and has lived in Norfolk since 2003 and prior to that in Shipley Yorkshire

Did they alter the windscreen angle rather than just chop a bit out of the middle?
I think I remember that the factory cars used the saloon windscreen surround as the coupe surround was too raked and you'd bump your head on the top of the screen when wearing a lid.
Don’t think helmets have anything to do with it - the urQuattro rally cars didn’t seem to present a problem for helmet wearers. I think I read that the saloon windscreen was to combat screen reflections.I think I remember that the factory cars used the saloon windscreen surround as the coupe surround was too raked and you'd bump your head on the top of the screen when wearing a lid.

Also, note yours has the rear wings from the rally car with the high up vents. The road car had blanks but low down.
Mine has the wrong screen angle, as basically it's a Quattro with 13 inches chopped out of the middle.
As others have said should have an Audi 80 front grafted to a Quattro back to make the perfect replica.
And yes the vents are in the wrong place for the road car.
As I don't like replicas ! I think of it more as a homage !!
With some very wind up S2 engine up front !!

Specifically the front of not just any old Audi 80, but the more rarer two-door version.
The reflections are annoying in the urQuattro. Also the little trickle of water that always runs off the driver’s side wiper and up the screen, after you’ve used the screenwash.
Apart from that they’re perfect

Wasn't there a dealership up north (N/W Autotrader) that specialised in these back in the day Phib? Or maybe had some deal with Dialynx back then?
These guys know their stuff (but down south).https://www.amcarsquattro.co.uk/

BTW a much less expensive solution to screen reflections is to buy (if you don’t already own them) polarising sunglasses. As others have said should have an Audi 80 front
