2005 Classic Car guide prices

Found an old classic car mag and thought would share some prices. It's dated 2005 - so 14 years, not that long ago and probably feels like yesterday to some, including me.

Obviously, you can check the inflation calculator to adjust the prices, but even so, looking at the vast gulf of prices to now really is an eye opener.

Ferrari F40 - £175,000
Current one for sale now £1,950,000

Ferrari 275/4 Cam - £250,000
Now £2,950,000

Aston Martin DB5 - £100,000
Now £850,000

Jaguar E-Type S1 Roadster - £42,500
Now £159,000

Jaguar XJ220 - £125,000
Now £495,000

Porsche 911 Carrera RS T -£70,000
Now £595,000

Mercedes 300SL Gullwing £165,000
Now £1,000,000

BMW M1 - £55,000
Now £500,000

Lamborghini Miura SV - £92,500
Now £2,595,000

Lamborghini Countach 5000 QV
£44,000
Now £450,000

Makes for depressing reading if you wanted one of these (which I did) and now will probably never afford it. Whereas if you had one you could easily cash out.

Lamborghini's have really shot up in particular.

Usual caveats apply; inflation / mileage / condition / dealers / 2008 crash / investment portfolio / bubble burst /whatisbeingaskeddoesntnecessarilymeanitwillsellforthat, blah blah..

Aye, but go back to 1989 before the arse fell out of most classics and the prices of some cars were crazy then too eg 250k for a Dino, that’s £660,000 when adjusted for inflation
