Ozzy Osborne E-Type

Found this E-Type for sale which was said to have been owned by Ozzy Osborne. I never knew he owned an E-Type. Apparently he had the E fitted with a custom side exhaust:

I agree, I like it. The purple is certainly different, and the side pipes are almost XKSS like. Not a massive fan of the slightly flared rear arches but they do suit the car.

Then again they're my dream car, and I'd rather own any E-Type than none at all.

If that really is a '61 fhc it's potentially a significant car. One of the first few dozen chassis numbers.

He only got a driving licence in 2009 and would've been far too wasted to have driven anything during the 70s / 80s so if he owned it it's doubtful he ever used it.

He was sober enough at some stage to buy the car, and have it modified, and I seriously doubt he was too bothered about driving it either wasted, or without a licence.

I get the impression that the legend that surrounds Ozzy Osbourne's lack of sobriety throughout the 70's & 80's is a bit like Keith Richards' in the 60's & 70's - Whilst there were plenty of days/weeks that they were completely: "out of it", I suspect there were a lot more days that they were: "with it", than the legends make out.

I’ve often thought the same. If the alcohol/substance abuse stories were true I very much doubt either would still be with us.

I saw a documentary about Eric Clapton and he seemed to blow through the seventies either through drugs or alcohol. Had some cracking cars as well.

The poster of the advert has made me look a tit. It originally said 1961 and was POA. Now says '62 and £130k!

In his autobiography he talks openly about his alcoholism and drug addicitons stating that whilst he could quit drugs for periods he never could get on top of the drink. I have mutual friends with his son Louis from his first marriage and have heard him talk about how his dad has been a drunken mess for the vast majority of his life.

There were interviews where he mentions having no interest in cars or being able to drive and gives an anecdote of trying to drive home from a country pub and smashing the car into the pub partly through drunkenness but partly through not having a clue as to what the pedals did.

As I said if he did own it it's unlikely he ever used it himself.

I’d be worried about that exposed exhaust - quite vulnerable to sabotage.
