Hand made E-Type

Just came across this video of a "hand made" E-Type going in for its IVA test. Looks like a kit car to me judging by the interior (ive seen a few Wildcats that have interiors similar to the one shown in the video) and the wheel arches.

The chap has a strange vibe about him to me, I think its that long white hair that adds to him being abit of an eccentric lol.

I think he needs to improve on that interior if one of his aims is to recreate the look of a real E-Type. Doesn;t say where the bonnet was from, ie was it made completely from scratch or from an existing bonnet and was modified?. I know someone who made a FHC completely from a fibreglass mould (a one off I believe), but this is something different.

Would be interesting to have a bit more detail on what it failed on - sounds like he's built it to 1960s regs and it's failed because it's a new car and needs to meet current regs???

I can't be doing with all that "you can't film" crap though. Won't be long until you won't be able to film anywhere soon, even in a "public" place with the ways things are going, yet there are cameras everywhere filming us without our consent.

I agree craftmanship it is, but why the flared arches on a series 1 closed headlamp styled E-Type?. I suspect it will take him quite a few tests to get to pass. I don't think he said what engine it had in it. More videos are needed.

Changing the subject slightly but why did Cheshire Classics go under after trading for 14 years?

So he's built a car from scratch that needed to go through an IVA test and he didn't bother to find out what the test entails ?

Always the same reason , lack of cashflow . If enough customers stop making the agreed payments then things very quickly get very tight .

Sad about the home-made E-type, but it has fallen foul of the IVA regs which run to over 200 pages. Emissions are, if I am not mistaken, based on the age of the motor, not the fact that it is a new car, but for the rest of the regs are pretty complicated anyway. Let's hope they produce another video (showing under the bonnet this time) and that he get's to understand the regs and gets it on the road.

I'm assuming the flared arches are because he's used a donor back end off a wider car, say an XJS?

Can't help but think he was a cross between Paul Weller and Henry Cole!
