Powder coating North East/North West/ Yorkshire

Hiya

I would like to have my Alfasud’s front cross member and various suspension components blasted and powder coated.

I know it’s important to get the blasting right and then the parts clean for powder coat. I also know powdercoAt and it’s longevity comes in various levels of quality although what means good and what is most expensive are not often the same. Cost is secondary to quality for me but then most expensive does not mean best.

Can anyone recommend a business in the North- I have family across the North so I can drop the parts of and visit family at the same time.

Have you considered shot blasting then painting? Once powder coating receives a break in the surface, it can act to accelerate corrosion as it traps water. Having owned several TVR’s, I used to shot blast, prime then spray with POR15 or similar that allows any marks to be touched up at a later date without disassembly. Power coating can be very vulnerable to stone impact whereas some of the newer paint compounds are plasticised and don’t surface break under impact.

Where there is no risk of stone impact on car parts, I’ve used LSN coatings in Castleford in the past for various items.
