A Neighbours Trip Through Time

Evening...

I've got friendly with one of my neighbours, a gentleman himself of a vintage age and experience.

He's got a fantastic journal of the cars he's owned, most of them restored by himself, so thought I'd document it for him on here for posterity.

With some of the photos, he's either hand written, or typed a write up of his time with the car, I find it quite fascinating, hopefully some of you will remember some of the cars, albeit he's in his late 70's so some of them may be a bit too far back for the PH massive

I'll try and sort out the orientation later when I get a moment...

He started off with this one:


Before dipping his toe into:



Had these:


Then progressed somewhat in he sporting stakes and got himself one of these:


Before continuing the soft top theme with these:


Needed some practicality so for a period had this cargo carrier:


Then swapped into a little Riley Sports Saloon for a mix of fun and practicality:


By this time, Mike fancied getting his hands dirty and started to restore cars:


Bought a Viva from a friend:


Had a lucky escape from an intruding steel girder into a Vauxhall Velox:


Played around with these:


Before finding a Cortina:


Then followed by a lovely Healey:




And a Morris:


Followed by a larger Cortina:


Then a random Honda Civic - these are worth a small fortune today:


A rare Mini Countryman Estate:


A 1975 Suzuki Jeep:


A Riley Elf fitted in somewhere:

Then Mike got into MG:



Sold to a chap from Italy, who still keeps in touch and sends Mike photos after it was restored again:

He'd love it if anyone recognised any of these well cared for Classics, who knows, someone may know something of their whereabouts, if they are still running

After a quick browse using the mot history checker
The sunbeam rapier and a couple of the Mg’s
Were last mot’d in 2012, the mk1 cortina number plate is now on a ford transit and the cortina HJA316D
Mot ran out in 2018

That Austin A40 sports with the Jensen body is a pretty little thing. A bit on the rare side as well.

How lovely, I've done something similar, When my dad used to tell me about his cars, It used to annoy me that I had no idea what they were or looked like .. he sometimes found an old pic of them .. So I decided to give each of my cars a photo shoot on my parents front lawn, I logged when I bought them, what I paid for them and sold them for .. etc ..Unfortunately I let it lapse so the are quite a few cars are not recorded... My first car was a Vauxhall Viva 1.1 SL so not as far back as those first cars .. but heading backwards with each year ..
