1980 Jeep CJ-7, MOT and IVA questions

Hello all, apologies from the beginning for a long post.
I am a USAF member, just recently stationed here in England. I have a restored, as stock, 1980 Jeep CJ-7. Everything is original or reproduction parts, and it's my daily driver and it is currently being shipped to England as I type this. I have spent many nights researching bringing the Jeep with me.
I have a few questions regarding items such as the MOT, IVA, etc.
For starters, I have read literally the entire MOT manual, the Vehicle Lighting Rules of 1989, and the rules on the IVA.
From what I understand, since the Jeep is 40 years old and is restored (not substantially changed in any way), it is exempt from the MOT requirement. I understand the V112 would fulfill that requirement upon registration. The Jeep was actually built in 1979, and I believe the engine code is either late 79 or early 80.
I have updated/verified the lighting configurations to meet the specifications in the lighting rules, to include adding a rear fog even though the Jeep doesn't require one (built pre 1 April 1980).
I also read on the DVLA website that vehicles older than 10 years are exempt from the IVA, so it would appear that my Jeep fits that bill.
After all of my research, and also reaching out to the DVLA with feedback, I concluded that I have set myself up for success with the Jeep and getting it registered for the roads here in the UK. However, when I sat down with the USAF office yesterday to get the 941 form for import, the lady behind the desk seemed to think the MOT was required for anything newer than 1975, as well as the IVA. I didn't debate the point at the time as the Jeep isn't here yet and I didn't know if I was mistaken, but I feel she is simply ignorant to the rules as the majority of Americans bring in cars such as Mustangs or trucks that are typically only a few years old.
I have no doubt that the Jeep would pass the inspections but I'd prefer to avoid spending the pounds on the tests if they are unnecessary.
