I was going to say Armstrong Siddley Hurricane but I don’t think the rear lights are quite right for it to be that and I also don’t think they have a window in the side of the canvas hood

No idea about the tow car though, but it was quite old - Santa Pod opened in 66 so there were plenty of more modern tow cars around.

Definitely an Armstrong Siddeley Hurricane.

The hood looks like it has been adapted. One of the criticisms of the original hood design was rear seat passengers couldn’t see out very well. The usual hood has no side windows and a slim post box style rear window.

The rear lights might have indicators added above them and there looks to be a reflector low down on the rear wing. The rear bumper has been painted.

Late on in production, for the final 234 cars, they changed the rear design to match the more shapely tail of the Whitley saloon.

In 1946, Sir Malcolm Campbell bought a Hurricane (KPF 229) with a similar coloured hood. He had his car specially painted in his favourite “Bluebird blue”. As far as I know, it’s now with the owners club.
