Most Beautiful Lancia Ever / Marcello Mastroianni
Discussion
Most beautiful Lancia ever......possibly.
Been doing some digging into the two Maseratis Quatroportes that the legendary Italian actor / lover, owned and I came across this.
This Double Bubble Zagato Flaminia is chassis number 1. It’s paint had barely dried when he spied it @ the Turin Salon on November 4th 1964 and bought it on the spot.
It was factory painted in a gorgeous dark blue, but Marcello didn’t care for the colour and instructed Zagato to re paint it a chestnut brown metallic.
Seems that he didn’t keep it long, changing his cars and chicks ( Catharine De Neuve / Faye Dunaway ) etc etc, like most of us change our under wear.
Re painted in its original blue, It sold via Bunghams in 2005 for circa £125,000

I'd say that price sounds about right.
There was a short article in Motor or Autocar in 1960 where they took one on two trips, one from Turin to Venice and back and again a couple of weeks later on the Liege - Rome - Liege rally, it's fair to say it wasn't the best example to road test and failed to proceed several times for all sorts of reasons. What a looker though.
Production numbers here...

EDIT : bloody thumsnap logo...! Super Sport total is 187.
