I think it's hopeless. I had a TVR Cerbera for 12 months so I checked periodically. sold it last year but values haven't changed for any condition for 2 years at least.
They also also, with some brands, don't have values for cars under 30+ years old (no valuations at all for Mercedes SLK for instance)
As I understand it, it's used for insurance valuations so many of the values are a bit inflated.
The Practical Classics guide is closer, IMHO, but classic car auctions often sell cars way above the top valuations. They also don't list every different spec / year, it's only an approximation:

In terms of a classic car guide to prices Hagerty and Practical Classics are a good options. Like you say above it's not always the most up to date data and that's really important imo. To that end I'm building a website to collate thousands of auction results all in one place and analysing price trends, average prices etc for thousands of models.
