This picture was recently posted on a local historical Facebook group.

The garage is in my local town, Newcastle Emlyn in Carmarthenshire, not somewhere I would have expected to see a 300SL and what I think is a C-Type Jaguar.

I've googled the Mercedes' registration and it has quite a history with links to Stirling Moss and it was a Mercedes press car and so appeared in numerous road tests.

I'm intrigued as to how these two would have ended up here.

I think the key might be that it was a press car. This could have been a magazine road test or similar, which could explain the presence of such exotica as the Jaguar (which I agree, looks like a C-Type). Think Evo Triangle, before the Evo Triangle.

Fascinating !
I Wonder if that photo originally appeared in Motor Sport magazine ?
The Late / Great WB ( Bill Boddy ) the magazines founder lived in Radnorshire, he often took cars home with him for “ an extended test “ and DSJ ( Jenks ) worked for Motor Sport, perhaps he took the photo.

My Motor Sport mag collection only goes back to the mid 60s ATM.

WB wrote a book on the cars, wonder if this one is mentioned ?
His memories of testing one @ Silverstone are also very interesting.

WB was a superb writer. This really does give a flavour to us mere mortals, of what driving one of these awesome cars must have been like.
