Watching a rather interesting and sobering video showing Berlin in 1945.

As the camera panned, a car came into view. If you blink you'll miss it because it was driven so fast.

Initial thoughts; highly inappropriate speed, has to be a BMW!...... wink

Looks like you are right, and someone influential to even own a car (and have petrol) after the war. I forget the name but there is a B&W spy film from the early fifties based in part in Berlin, and the poverty and destruction are obvious. Mind you, I remember the first time I saw a banana and an orange - I was about five. And when sweet rationing was lifted! Now that was a day, that was!

It had probably been "acquired" by an allied officer, there's a good chance it would have made it's way home as a souvenir.

It's interesting you mention this as it just happens that I was watching this very same (remastered colourised) film just this morning and noticed the quick flash of some exotic looking sportscar whizzing by. Great job of colourising and stabilizing these old films.
