I was reading the C & SC feature on the car the other day when they also took it back to the alps.
Really interesting that the new owner gambled on it being the car in question before buying it took a while to confirm it was by accounts.
In the end it all came down to only 3 Muira's being built that year in colour and interior trim and the fact that at the time once built they were shipped straight out the factory but for some reason this car stayed for 12 days extra and the dates all matched with filming.
Now insured for £3 million plus by all accounts.

Did the film makers alter the colour then, it's clearly proper red in the film. His is orange so how can it be the same car?
Hoping someone can answer this as I have always wondered it looks red in the opening scene. From what I have read they found the salvage car first and this was picked to match.
Some prints of the original film make the Miura look red but it is actually orange (Orancio), and the damaged one was repainted to match it. Different renditions of the film on youtube / copies of copies etc make it look a different colour.
The damaged car was already at the factory before the filming started, it had been crashed by its first owner and returned to the factory to be repaired. When the film crew arrived back at the scene the next morning the remains of the damaged car had vanished from the bottom of the ravine.

Such a shame that Rossano Brazzi isn’t still with us, to tell us his side of the story of the Muira.......
He sadly passed away in Rome in December 1994, @ the age of 78, from a virus.

Simon Kidston recently brought out his book on the Muira, 762 copies, one of every Muira built. Think they're all sold out and no doubt cost a pretty penny, would be interested what it had to say about the car in question
With only circumstantial evidence to go from it is the car, but currently appears to be in the wrong colour - further details to come in the pre-Xmas Kidston Miura Register. It was Rosso Miura (orangey red) on the Bertone records, though also has Arancio Miura on another page of the build sheet. At the time these were probably interchangeable and no P400 was ever Arancio Miura - that colour was introduced for the P400S when the regular red available was from then onwards Rosso Corsa, a traditional racing red with no orange. Orange was Arancio Miura.
All the "film stock can look different, it was shot on a Hasselblad" has an element of truth in it, but not the massive difference in colour you see today.
