Hi All, can anyone tell me what car this is? This is a photo of my grandparents on their wedding day 81 years ago. Someone on my family WhatsApp feed posted it yesterday, and we were all wondering what the car is, as nobody thought my grandad was into cars much (he had the same Toyota Corrolla for 25 years!). Thanks!

BPM was an East Sussex number, issued Feb '39 - July '44 (inclusive)

I thought it was a long period for a letter change but, of course, there were other things going on around 1939-45 and buying new private cars probably wasn't priority number one wink

Oh brilliant thanks for the swift response.

I've got to find out a bit more about this car and whether he had it a while or just borrowed it for the day, as i only ever remember his old Toyota (despite having a deep hatred of the Japanese after being evacuated from Singapore) which he drove for about 25yrs.

East Sussex might make sense as they did spent a lot of time in the Hastings area, though they are actually in Ealing in this shot where they got married.

I quite like the chuffed look he has, I'm assuming he was pleased to be marrying my grandmother, not just being at the wheel of what seems to be a new convertible!
