My wife reversed my cougar out of the garage today and caught the rear wheel arch on the bricks and did this

It’s annoying but not the end of the world. Colour match is my only real concern tbh
Bearing in mind that I do love her and I saw it happen and she wasn’t being reckless, the question is
How much should I make her suffer?

Sorry to see that. If she's anything like mine, who drove my new (to me) Aston 2 weeks ago and despite having driven plenty of large and/or powerful cars in the past, managed to kerb the front wheel badly enough to need it refurbing, she'll be feeling pretty crappy about it.

Hope you can get it repaired without too much trouble.

No worry. Happend to me as well.
Several hundred quids and a perfectly polished car later at a good body shop and everything is good again.
A perfect opportunity to get one or the other chip sorted as well.

Just celebrate that she didn't catch the edge trim and that all those curves are the easiest place for a blend (the car not the wife. Although.....)

If that's the worst thing that happens to you, in your life, you are lucky ! It just needs fixing - easy peasy.

At least she opened the garage door first.

Mishaps happen, why would you want to make her suffer?

I love the way you think you can make her suffer without it rebounding straight back on to you!

Seriously though, just be happy that she is willing to drive it and enjoy it with you. I'd rather mine drove my Mustang more even if it got the odd scrape (it's scruffy anyway as I'm not the concours car type).

Some years ago my wife drove her Renault Clio into the back of my MG Midget....which was annoying as I'd asked her to follow me as the brake lights weren't working...you can now guess her reason for hitting it!! She was far more upset about the damage than I was so I didn't even need to comment, and I'd guess your wife will be the same.

Unfortunate that’s faar from the worst thing that’s happened to me!
On the positive side she’s being extra nice to me tonight!

In that case maybe you don't need to be angry!

I hope you can get it sorted fairly painlessly.

I let my wife drive my cars twice and she has crashed them, twice. Both write offs, she doesn't do things by halves. You only have yourself to blame for letting your wife drive it imo.

Not even slightly; she probably feels bad enough already, and if you make this easy for her, she will feel obliged to treat you gently over your next few transgressions.

Not make her suffer at all, not even a tiny bit, her confidence has already been knocked. Be grateful she's getting involved in something you care about, it's rarer than you think. It's just a man made object, in which case it can be fixed. Accept it as battle scarring, fix it and move on.
