I would like to recreate this photo of my father and I, with my son and I who is now a similar age as I was, well a little younger and a better fit in the peddle car!

The thing is, I don’t have a real Jaguar E-Type, only my Tri-ang peddle car, so I am looking for some good will to help me with recreate this photo.

Any tips on where to point this question greatly appreciate.

I’d happily reward the owner with a tank of fuel for their time (15mins tops).

Thanks

Superb photo !

What year was it taken ?
Your Dads E is a late Series 1 2 + 2

It’s listed as being blue and is currently MOTd, fantastic that it has survived !
It may be listed on XKE Data.com

The chap who owns my Late Dads ( second ) E lives in Bucks, it’s red, but I’ve lost his contact details.
The E Type Register of the JDC would surely be able to find a suitable car.

Thanks!

The photo was taken in approximately 1987 at a classic car show.

Soon after this photo was taken, my father sold the car and set about a four year restoration on a series one roadster.

Good tip regarding JDC, I will see if that community can help me out.

You remind me of my own daughter, seen here at Donington during the 30th anniversary of the E-type for the 1000 E-type weekend.

If no offers, you could always hire one I guess. I've always liked them, but can't afford one, so spent £150 hiring a 4.2 series 2 for the day. My son enjoyed being a passenger - I guess yours would too and it would make the photo even more special?

Good suggestion regarding the hire. Having now looked into this, I guess hire costs have gone up a bit in line with these cars values. I’m seeing £500-£1,000+ hire rates.

Who did you hire from?

Lovely idea. Biggest hurdle will be finding a bloke with a mullet to stand in the background.

Northumbria Classic Car Hire - £300 for a day, £250 for 4hrs, so it has gone up a bit since I used them, but still good value compared to the places you have been looking.

You’d have thought that there would be no shortage of e types residing around the M25. Especially that NW segment which is loaded to the gills with classics.

You could try contacting Slades Garage in Penn given they are only a mile or so up the road from Beaconsfield, as they have a Series 1 4.2 FHC currently in stock among their stock of E-Types for sale.
Worth a try.

My own thoughts are that you should definitely use a closed head lamp Series 1 car ( as per the original photo ) your Dads car was a 2+2, but an FHC car will be fine, if you can’t find a 2 + 2.

But...........my thoughts are that you should track down your Dads old 2 + 2 E and get that in the photos.....
Now that, Really would be fantastic !!

Also, the current owner of that car would surely like a copy of your photo?

I would give my back teeth to re create this photo of my Late Dads first E ( LFL 670F WHERE ARE YOU NOW ?? )
It’s seen here in 1969. The guy in the hat is a pal of his called Paul.
I’ve been trying to find this British racing green car, for well over 20 years now. It was last known to be in the Leicester / Notts area in 1979. I tracked down the guy who owned it in 79 and he told me that he sold it to “ someone “ who was going to turn it into a Roadster......

Keep it stiff

I do hope someone comes through to help you with this, it is a great idea. As suggested in an earlier post, perhaps a local classic car dealer would help out, it would make a nice news story for them to do so.

This thread also got me thinking that there must be many of us with nostalgic family/car related pictures, such pictures do get posted from time to time but then get buried within different threads. Perhaps this calls for a dedicated Family & Family Car Nostalgia thread.
