Interesting cars at next Silverstone Auction
Discussion
Let’s beat the usual PH puff piece about the forthcoming Silverstone auction! But there really is quite a bit of mouthwatering stuff there: as new Mk1 Golf, a UR Quattro, more E30 M3s than one can shake a stick at, a smattering of mid-engined R5 Turbos, DB4, RS 500, Escort Twin Cam, the usual gaggle of 911, including a nice 2.2, 550 Maranello, manual 355, Original Coopers Ss, 190E 2.3-16 (unfortunately with a slush box), Evo VI, M1, 456, a brace of RS Cosworths, etc, ...oh and a Cavalier (oh dear). Pity I don’t have the money in the post-Brexit world...
As there seems to be something for just about everybody, let us play a game and reveal our inner Carma (sorry!) to the World - nominate one car that we would take from the ensemble to keep for all time (so take financial value out of it).
I would just take the Quattro over the 355. What is your pick?

God they make the online catalogue very poor. You scroll down to a car in the lower lots, click on it to look at it, and then when you go back, it's at the top again. You have to wait for it all to download again if you want to scroll down.
Dreadful.
CCA have adopted the same format, it's awful. Much better when the cars were listed in pages and you could click on and view them more easily. Why with advances in formatting, is it WORSE??
It may still go ahead but collecting one would be tricky, although I suppose you could say it s a 'legal obligation'.......

As a sucker for anything German and 80's, I could take pretty much any one of half the catalogue home and be happy - the black M3 Cecotto, either the 190E 2.5-16 or the 500E, the Quattro, the 993 RS.... well, anything except for Del Boy's all white Golf cab, or the delivery mileage Golf D....
Interestingly on page 80 and 81 you have next to each other a Bentley T Series Coupe and a Mk 1 Escort of about the same age. Can you imagine looking at them when new and thinking that in 50 years time the Escort would be worth more!

Looks like its going ahead, but viewing a car 'in the flesh' so to speak stops on 4th with the new restrictions.

After that, it's a 'virtual' viewing. I suppose the auctioneers could show you close ups of areas via the web or zoom, etc (other live picture broadcast apps are available.....
)
I would still want to see one close up before bidding myself.
