E Type S.1 3.8 1962 / Brian Forbes
Discussion
Watched the film about Brian Forbes sadly
Abandoned “ Seven Pines Mansion “ in Virginia Water, Surrey earlier, which is set in ten acres, he somehow managed to buy it aged just 25 in 1955, for £7,000 quid !
A Lot of money back then !!
His ashes were apparently scattered in the garden.
Did some digging and found two shots of him with E Types ! ( One of which, is from Deadfall, the Michael Cain / Eric Portman film, that sadly flopped.
But, did he own this 62 Roadster ? It looks to have originally been opalescent silver blue, or opalescent gun metal, remarkably it’s survived, but it’s now listed as being white.

I was lucky enough, about 15 years ago, to get a drive in a S.1 E-Type. It looked amazing, but by god it was crap, by modern standards anyway. Almost impossible to get in and out of, hugely uncomfortable, awful steering, not as fast as an average 1.4 hatchback, with rubbish brakes and headlights about as much use as sticking 2 glowing cigarette butts on your bonnet.
Had about 20 mins at the wheel, and was glad to get out of it. They say never meet your heroes, and it was never truer than in this case.
